General Questions What does "BluBird" mean? TopA “blue-bird” day is a term that skiers and snowboarders use to describe the perfect day on the mountain. It is the day that every one dreams of - it has been storming for the past couple of days and all through the night when, almost magically, one morning the skies are crystal clear and there is not a cloud in sight to block the radiant hue of blue that fills the sky above the snow covered, tree lined mountain tops. The snow is deep. The sky is clear. Adventure and a great day on the mountain await all. BluBird Rentals brings this same feeling of joy to the rental experience. We even went as far as removing the “e” from the word blue to emphasize that “u” the customer are important to us. The storm has cleared. Are you ready for the BluBird Rentals Experience? What does "ski rental delivery" actually mean? TopSki rental delivery means that we bring the ski rental shop to you. BluBird Rentals is a full service mobile ski and snowboard shop. After you make a reservation, we bring all your equipment to where ever you are staying, whenever it is convenient for you. Our professional rental technicians then outfit your party – and yes we do bring along extra sizes of boots. On your last day of skiing, we pick everything up from you. What hours are you open? TopWe open early, 7:00 a.m., and close late, 10:00 p.m. We understand that traveling in the mountains can be difficult – especially when the weather doesn’t want to cooperate. If you are experiencing delays, we would rather you drive slowly and carefully to arrive at your destination safely. Just give us a call to let us know if you are running late and we will make new, more convenient arrangements. Where are you located? TopBecause we are strictly a rental delivery service, bringing the shop to you, we do not have a physical brick and mortar shop. Instead we can be anywhere you are in the greater Winter Park area. Is there an additional charge to have the skis delivered? TopNo, everything is included in the price on our Rates and Equipment page. We do not like paying additional fees, and don’t know of anyone who does, so the prices you see are the total cost for skis, boots, poles and delivery. How many people do I need for a group? TopGroups start at 10 people. Please fill out an initial Group Reservation form. A BluBird Rentals’ representative will contact you within 48 hours to discuss group discounts and your reservation. What is your cancellation policy? TopWe ask that you call and cancel your reservation 72 hours prior to the scheduled outfitting time. If you are unable to make it to the resort for any unforeseeable reason, such as the weather, missed flights, etc., just let us know as soon as possible and we can set up a new reservation time. Since we do not take any payment until the outfitting, there is no cancellation fee. However, if you are not going to make it at the agreed upon time, please let us know. What is the BluBird Guarantee? TopIf during the first 48 hours of your BluBird Rentals Experience you are unsatisfied with the equipment, level of service or for any other reason you will receive a 100% full refund of your rental. We only ask that you let us know what we could have done differently to make your experience better. For more information about the BluBird Guarantee click here Can I buy the Skis/Snowboard I rent? TopOf course. If you would like to purchase skis or a snowboard, let us know. We give each piece of equipment a full tune before we send it to you, making it as good as new. You can also see what type of ski you were using by logging in and clicking on the My Reservation History page Reservation Questions How do I make a reservation? TopThere are two easy way to make a reservation with BluBird Rentals:
Our professionally trained rental technicians use the information you provide to select the equipment which best suites your needs. If by chance the equipment we bring is not suitable, we carry extra equipment in our vehicle. If you would like to request a certain model or size of ski, please let us know in the additional comments area when you are making your reservation. Do you rent helmets? TopYes. We rent helmets for all ages and sizes. They are safe, warm and stylish. You can request a helmet when making your reservation. In fact, you might qualify for a free helmet rental (see below). How do I qualify for a free helmet rental? TopTo qualify for our free helmet rental, you must rent your equipment for 5 days or more. Supplies are limited, so make your reservation as soon as possible to ensure your free helmet rental. What if I am unsure of my boot size? TopBluBird Rentals brings a number of sizes and styles of boots to you to ensure the best fit. We understand that feet are like snowflakes, no two are the same – except maybe for some twins. What if I have a problem with my equipment? TopIn the rare event that something happens with your equipment, we are just a phone call away at (970) 531-1971. Our rental technicians will meet you either at the base of the mountain or back at your lodge/house waiting with a solution to your problem. What packages do you carry? TopAt BluBird Rentals we carry equipment for all levels of skiers and riders. The Silver Package is recommended for beginners to intermediates, and the Gold Package is recommended for intermediates to advanced skiers. For more information check out our Rates and Equipment Can I switch to skis/snowboard during my rental? TopYes, but there will be a $10 switching fee each time equipment is switched. For example if you are renting for four days and want to ski for the first two days, snowboard for third day and ski on the fourth day, you would have to pay a total of a $20 switching fee for the two switches. We strongly recommend that if you want to try snowboarding or skiing that you do so on the last day of your trip. In that case there would only be a $10 charge for one switch. Plus, whenever you try snowboarding or skiing for the first time you are usually sore the next couple of days, or even weeks. What does the Damage Waiver cover? TopAn optional damage waiver is available for $2.99 per renter per day and covers minor damage to equipment. This includes minor scrapes, dings, dents and gouges to the base, edges and the ski or snowboard itself. It does NOT cover damage due to NEGLIGENCE, THEFT OR LOSS of the rental equipment. If you are renting our Gold Package we strongly recommend selecting the damage waiver, especially during the beginning and end of the season – there are more rocks out there at these times. Will I get a refund if I want to take a day off in the middle of my trip? TopUnfortunately, no. However, if you are renting and paying for the equipment for a minimum of five days, you get an extra day free. Skiing six days in a row is tough, and if you are doing so we think you should at least get a certificate or a medal commemorating your stamina. For more information about our Free Rental program, click here What If I have my own boots? TopYou can rent only skis or a snowboard. The price of only skis or a snowboard is $5 less than a package deal. If you rent only skis, you can still use our poles. Check out the Rates and Equipment. When do you charge my credit card? TopYour credit card is charged when you are outfitted with the equipment. This card will also be kept on file for a deposit – just incase something happens to the equipment. |
